We're also hosting our 2017 Annual General Meeting where elections for next year's IPEP HSN committee positions will be held.

**So, if you're interested to get involved with IPEP HSN in 2018, you can't afford to miss this event!**

Date: Tuesday 12 September 2017

The first IPEP HSN Seminar in 2017 brings you a panel of expert communicators.

The patient's journey often starts like an unfinished puzzle, with each health professional adding one more piece. Effective communication is key to piecing together the patient’s situation, and to co-creating a plan of action.

The experts will share how they navigate difficult communication in a range of contexts including:
- communicating across language barriers
- conflict resolution
- communication errors that lead to complaints; and
- breaking bad news.

What does each health discipline bring to the table?

The 2017 IPEP HSN Student-run Workshop is a practical workshop giving you the chance to get hands-on, and gain knowledge from each other. It's one of the first steps of multidiscplinary collaboration and provision of holistic healthcare.

***Food and drinks will be provided***

The five stations this year include:
1. Music Therapy - Therapeutic Songwriting
2. Audiology - BPPV, and how to fix it
3. Medicine - Surgical Suturing
4. Dietetics - A Day in the Life of the Dietician; and
5. Optometry - Direct Ophthalmoscopy

Everyone will rotate around to different stations so you get a taster of what these disciplines can do.

"If you are curious, you'll find the puzzles around you. If you are determined, you will solve them." - Erno Rubik

Calling all health students: have you ever been curious about what professionals from other health disciplines really do on a day-to-day basis? Have you ever been puzzled by how disciplines can achieve, and sometimes don't achieve, working in a cohesive manner?

Then join us at the University of Melbourne's Interprofessional Education and Practice Health Students' Network (IPEP HSN) Rubik's Cube party, and we'll solve the puzzles together!
